Posted: 8/28/02 Wyoming moves on EDA land requestAlice Pickering By unanimous vote, Wyoming City Council on Aug. 19 passed a resolution approving the conveyance of city-owned land north of the Sunrise River and south of the Stars and Strikes site to the Wyoming Economic Development Authority for purposes of sale to Stars and Strikes. The action is basically an administrative lot split and divides a parcel of city land separated by the Sunrise River. The part north of the river, up to the southern boundaries of the Stars and Strikes lot, is the area being sold. City Attorney Tom Miller summarized a draft purchase agreement. Council approved the negotiated terms. No road is required as part of the public improvements, but an easement must be retained. The legal agreements are to be concluded at the same time other parts of the development agreement are set with the owners of Stars and Strikes. When completed, the sale would be wrapped into the development agreement with Stars and Strikes. Sale is contingent on the EDA and developer reaching an agreement, terms included in the plat, and that the parcel is also to be rezoned as family entertainment district. Park update Kevin Teel reported for the park board, saying the group is seeking to complete the grading plan for Goodview Park this fall. The grading plan is not covered by grant. If this is completed when grant money is available in the spring, work can begin right then. A grant application has been filed with DNR and Teel believes the city has a good chance of securing money to help with soccer field construction. Council passed a resolution of commendation recognizing Carl Jacob Seim for completion of his Eagle Scout project. His Eagle project involved construction of pamphlet racks for the Baby Blanket project, a mission of St. Bridgetís Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Seim is a member of Wyoming Troop 142.
