Posted: 8/28/02 Burglars hit Chamber officeBurglars made off with money and computer equipment from the Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce office over the weekend. The burglary of the second story Town Square office, 20 N. Lake St., was reported to police on Sunday. The crime is similar to an earlier burglary in August at Forest Lake Travel, also housed in Town Square. Police reports indicated the glass door window had been removed to the Chamber office to gain entry to the office. Entry to Forest Lake Travel was identical, police said. In the Chamber burglary, cash valued at $25 to $30, a digital camera and computer and monitor were taken. A total value estimate was not made to police by the Chamber. Other reports In other police news: ïCity officers assisted at a two-car crash on TH-97 at I-35 in Columbus Township at 1 p.m. Monday where there were minor injuries. ïReceived a report of a stolen boat trailer on Monday. Roger Hanson of Shafer told police he launched his boat in First Lake at 3:30 a.m. When he returned to the municipal parking lot, his 14-foot trailer valued at $600 had been stolen. It is believed the trailer was taken between 3:30 and 5 a.m. when downtown construction workers arrived at their job sites. ïReceived a report of the theft of money from vending machines at Country Inn & Suites, 1954 W. Broadway Ave. Motel staff is estimating that as much as $300 in money was taken from vending machines between Aug. 22 and Aug. 26 when the crime was discovered, according to police reports. |
