Ranger recap

Alpine ski
ï The Forest Lake boys and girls alpine ski teams each took wins over Hill-Murray on Thursday, Dec. 5.

The Forest Lake boys took a 30-25 victory over the Pioneers while the girls won 34-21.

Ryan Moen finished second in the boys race to lead the Rangers while Justin Knowlton was fourth, Mark Grundtner was fifth, Scott Bjorklund was sixth and Chad Bjorklund placed eighth.

In the girls race, Rachel Kissner placed first for Forest Lake and Katy Hallberg and Carly Bass were third and fourth, respectively. Becky Keller was sixth for the Rangers while Amanda Connelly was eighth and Kelly Haglund was 10th.

Gymnastics
ï Woodbury defeated the Forest Lake gymnastics team 132-117 on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Jamie Essen turned in the Rangersí top score on vault and floor while Rachel Turry led the way on bars and beam.

Girls hockey
ï White Bear Lake limited the Forest Lake girls hockey team to just eight shots on goal while taking a 4-0 victory over the Rangers at Maroon and Gold Arena on Saturday.

Forest Lake goaltender Kelsie Bakken stopped 30 of the 34 shots the Bears fired at her.
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Stillwater defeated the Rangers 6-0. Kim Fredrick had 34 saves for Forest Lake.

Boys hockey
ï The Forest Lake boys hockey team scored four goals in the first period and five more in the second on its way to a 9-0 victory over Irondale on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Matt Stendahl had the hat trick for the Rangers with three goals while Jeff Stone, Phil Vandeveer, Cory Minke, Scooter Brandt, Tyler Rife and Clint Blum each had one goal. Brett Sawyer had eight saves in two periods of play while Jake Peloquin stopped three shots in the third period.

On Saturday, Forest Lake suffered a 4-3 loss to Alexandria at Maroon and Gold Arena.
Forest Lake took a 2-0 lead when Minke scored in the first period and Brandt scored in the second, but Alexandria scored the next four to take control. Minke added another goal in the final minute of the game.
