Mounds View sweeps FL alpine squads

Mounds View had four of the top five skiers in both the boys and girls competition to sweep the Forest Lake alpine teams last week.

Mounds View defeated the Forest Lake boys 35-20 and took a 46-9 win over the Forest Lake girls on Thursday, Dec. 12, at Wild Mountain.

In the boys race, Mounds View took the top three spots. Forest Lakeís Jason Higgins was fourth with a combined time of 48.68 seconds in two runs. The top four skiers all finished within a second of each other.

Justin Knowlton was sixth for the Rangers with a combined time of 50.57 while Chris Muske was seventh in 51.37 and Scott Bjorklund was eighth in 51.68.

Forest Lakeís Mark Grundtner was 10th in 52.44.

In the girls race, the Mustangs took the top four places and had seven of the top eight times.

The Rangers were led by Rachel Kissner, who placed fifth with a combined time of 1:01.86.

Amanda Connelly was ninth for the Rangers in 1:08.06 while Becky Keller was 10th in 1:08.07 and Carly Bass just missed earning team points with an 11th-place finish in 1:09.42.
