Posted: 12/4/02 Donald Wujcik, 77, served public libraries in countyDonald Wujcik, a Forest Lake man who spent many hours working for library causes in Forest Lake, has died. Wujcik died at his Forest Lake home on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002. He was 77. A Naval veteran from World War II, Wujcik graduated from the University of Minnesota and worked for the state of Minnesota until 1985 when he retired as vice chancellor the Community College System. During his retirement years, he was active with The Friends of the Forest Lake Library organization and the Forest Lake Library Board. He also served on the Washington County Library Board. Tulida Blackford of Forest Lake served on the library board here with Wujcik. ěHe was a tremendous community worker with a positive community attitude,î Blackford said of Wujcik. ěHe was a very helpful person.î As a strong supporter of the library system, Blackford she believed Wujcik was looking forward to the eventual construction of a new county library in Forest Lake. A resident of the Clear Lake area, Wujcik was also active in the Clear Lake Association. Wujcik is survived by his children Becky Wujcik, Suzanne (Charles) Nichols, and William Wujcik; two grandchildren, Andrea and Andrew Nichols; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; two sisters and two brothers. A funeral service was Wednesday, Dec. 4 at St. Peterís Catholic Church in Forest Lake with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to donorís choice or Washington County libraries. |
