Thanks to continued dominance on the mound, the American Legion baseball team continues to win.

With only two games last week on Monday and Wednesday, the Legion team won both to further grip first place in their division, and only two wins from a conference title.

On Monday, July 1, the legion squad sent undefeated pitcher Luke Hagman to the mound. His devoured hitters once again, and Forest Lake needed only five innings to crush St. Paul Park.

Hagmanís two-hitter lead Forest Lake to their seventh win of the season.

Joe Lawrence went 3-4, knocking in two RBIs.

Forest Lake returned to action on Wednesday, July 3, as pitching stumped opponents yet again. The 6-0 victory was Chris Parentís third pitching victory of the season.

Parent pitched a complete game, allowing only one hit, with nine strikeouts.

Forest Lake was lead offensively by Karl Youngís 2-5 performance scoring twice, and grabbing two RBIs. Mark Miron also had an RBI, going 2-4 on the night.

The long holiday weekend came as an advantage to Forest Lake, as ace Luke Hagman got a chance to rest his well respected arm.

After losing in their first two meetings against Stillwater, Forest Lake awaited Monday, July 8, to send Hagman against the culprit of their only conference losses for the first time.

ìThe guys were really geared up and ready for Stillwater this time.î Coach Todd Poepard explained.

ìI really didnít need to do much coaching in the game. I was really impressed with the performance, I could sit back and watch.î

Fresh off signing a letter of intent to pitch at the University of Minnesota-Duluth next year, Hagman was masterful pitching a no-hitter.

Alex Johnsonís home run over the left field fence in the second inning was all Forest Lake needed to outscore Stillwater, going on to win 4-0.

Hagman is 5-0 on the season, and has only allowed two hits in his last two games.

The victory improves Forest Lakeís record to 9-2 in division play, 11-3 overall.

More importantly, Forest Lake continues to hold first place in the division but is persued by Hastings and Stillwater, both two games back.

MN Gopher Classic

The tournament will be played at eight sites hosting 48 teams.

Forest Lake will compete against Shakopee, Hamline, Thunder Bay, Bloomington and Hibbing in Bloomington.
