Builder's focus is on remodeling

A Forest Lake builder that has long specialized in remodeling projects has turned its main focus to that aspect of construction.

As of June 1, Neujahr Homes, Inc. became Neujahr Remodeling, Inc. The business is owned by David and Michelle Neujahr.

The move coincides with a spring relocation to a downtown office. Neujahr Remodeling is now based in the American Express Building, 8 N. Lake St., and maintains weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The switch to Neujahr Remodeling capped several months of planning for the owners and the acquisition of computer software to enable the company to provide a greater level of customer service, the owners said.

Under its new focus, the company is concentrating on major, upscale remodeling projects that utilize quality products and workmanship.

David Neujahr is in charge of bidding and on-site project supervision. Mark Nelson is job foreman and one of five carpenters employed by the business.

Michelle Neujahr is in charge of office functions and is assisted by her brother, Seth Stores, a junior at Bethel College who brings computer expertise to the business.

Under the Neujahr Remodeling theme, customer service is stressed, David Neujahr said. All potential clients receive company informational packets and references to help them research the Neujahrs. Once a client seeks face-to-face contacts, meetings follow and the client is constantly informed of the job progress once construction begins.

Most contracts will exceed $50,000, but Neujahr Remodeling is capable and willing to take on smaller jobs. With five carpenters and skilled subcontractors available, crews can be split to take on smaller work.
