Posted: 6/26/02 Willcutt exits Wyoming TownshipJessica Foster For the second time in less than one year, Wyoming Township is without an administrator. G. Alan Wilcutt, planning and zoning administrator, resigned his position during a closed-session meeting of the town board Tuesday, June 11. Chairman Don Waller said the resignation was a mutual decision. ìIt was mutually agreed it wasnít working out,î Waller said. Waller said he called the closed session to discuss personnel matters on Friday, June 7 after being contacted by personnel liaison Robert DuCharme. DuCharme reportedly was contacted with concerns by building official Fred Weck. Earlier this week, Waller said problems with Wilcutt have been brewing since this spring. ìOver a month ago we had a meeting with Al about how he was doing,î Waller said. Waller said the issue came to a head earlier this month when legal notices which should have been sent to Forest Lake Times and Chisago County Press were not received by either publicationís fax machine. ìThere was a grave discrepancy about legals,î Waller said. ìWith legal notices, there is a time table we have to watch.î The board was set to accept Wilcuttís resignation during its regular meeting Tuesday, June 25óafter Forest Lake Times went to press. Waller said the township has contacted two candidates who had been interviewed for Wilcuttís position. Waller said the individuals óElizabeth A. Knoblauch from Plymouth and Ronald R. Peterson from Royaltonóappeared to be interested. Wilcutt started duties on March 26, though the board made the decision to hire the Rochester man in January. He replaced Lisa Hughes who had been serving the township in that capacity since 1996. Before coming to work in Wyoming Township, Wilcutt was working as a private planning consultant in central Wisconsin. One of 16 applicants for the job, Wilcutt has worked in the planning field in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The township paid Wilcutt $45,000 annually. |
