Wyoming company gets CUP

A conditional use permit was approved for Elite Manufacturing Company for the Wyoming Industrial Park at Mondayís city council meeting. Elite, located in a part of the building that once housed Bishop Millwork, customizes trailers and motor homes. Jim Brueggeman is the builder.

Council expanded the allowable uses for which CUPs may be granted in the Wyoming Business Park. These are offices, office showrooms and office warehouses.

While waiting for completion of a comprehensive land-use study, Wyoming City Council also declined a request by Pilot Land Development Company on May 20 to initiate action to annex the Greenworld Golf Course property to the city.

City Administrator Dennis Coryell said this is in part to ìpreserve good relations with the township.î

At the same meeting, Larry Porter, Forest lake Athletic Association presented a check for $2,500 to the city to enable the Wyoming Fire Department to purchase a thermal imaging camera to assist firefighters inside buildings.

Kevin Teel reported a poor asphalt patch job on a trail in Thurnbeck Ponds. Pilot Land Development Company is responsible for repairing the spot. Staff was directed to include this item on the final punch list.

On the recommendation of the Engineer Paul Kauppi and Coryell, council authorized payment of a pay estimate in the amount of $31,606.50 to Renner Company for completed work on the new city well. Coryell said the drilling is complete and the well has been developed. Water tests must be completed before well house and pump are installed.

Council approved an exchange of cell phone for Sgt. Scott Dexter to another provider which works better in his neighborhood. There is no difference in cost for the service.

Coryell reported the planning commission is reviewing the nuisance ordinance and is working on ordinances to regulate pawnshops, adult entertainment and the light industrial zoning.

Citizen groups are working with council members on business licenses and commercial water rates.

Council member Lynn Koalska called to the attention of council members regarding ad in The Real Estate Journal announcing the availability of commercial property in Wyoming.

The committee for Violence Free Wyoming planted shrubs and weeded gardens at Centennial Park. Council member Sandy Standridge said the monuments are to be repaired and benches added to make the area more user-friendly.

Council member Paul Raduenz reported that maintenance department has completed spraying of down sewer ponds in the amount of about eight million gallons.
