Posted: 6/5/02 School supervisors sign contractCliff Buchan ISD 831ís seven supervisors now have a new two-year contract in hand. The school board on Monday voted 7-0 to ratify the contract which covers the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 school years. The seven employees will see a total package contract improvement of 8.3 percent over the two years, retroactive to July 1, 2001, according to information released by the school district this week. Under the new deal, the seven members of the Forest Lake Supervisors Association will see salary schedule improvements of 2.7 percent in the first year and 2 percent in the second year. The cost of insurance will add a half percent of cost to the package in the first year and 3.1 percent to the cost in the second year, said Larry Martini, director of business affairs. With the employee group voting to ratify the contract, Martini also recommended school board ratification at Mondayís regular meeting. The new contract also includes pay-for-performance bonus opportunities for the worker group. Supervisors can achieve up to a $2200 bonus in the first year of the contract and $2700 in the second year. Martini said the total cost to the district is $399,000 for the seven employees in the 2001-02 school year and $424,000 in the second year. As required under state law, Martini presented financial documentation showing that the settlement does not result in a structural imbalance in the districtís budget during the period of the agreement. Acting on Martiniís recommendation, the board voted 7-0 to adopt the resolution approving the structural balance report which is sent to the state department of Children, Families & Learning. |
