Full Count: Brooks, others coming to FL

In the coming days, Herb Brooks may get the New York Rangers coaching position. He also is scheduled to make an appearance in Forest Lake.

Brooks, the Minnesota hockey legend who guided the 1980 ìMiracle on Iceî squad and this yearís silver-medal winning Olympic team, is among the scheduled participants in the Chain of Lakes YMCA Celebrity Golf Tournament and Silent Auction.

The event, sponsored by ERA Muske Company Real Estate, Krause Anderson Midwest, Lino Lakes State Bank, Molin Concrete and Scandia Stucco is scheduled for Monday, June 10, at Forest Hills Golf Club.

Other celebrities contacted to participate include: Stu Voigt, Wally Hilgenberg, Joey Browner, Tim Baylor, Bill Brown, Paul Krause, Oscar Reed, Kurt Knoff, Lee Nystrom, John Alt, John Anderson and Jim Brunzell.

Golf, a catered dinner and a cart costs $100 for an individual, while $200 also gets you hole sponsorship. $500 gets you golf, dinner and carts for four and hole sponsorship while $1500-and-up gets you four golfers, dinners and carts, hole sponsorship and golfing with a celebrity.

This is the third year for the event, which helps raise money for the YMCA scheduled for construction in the spring of 2003 in Lino Lakes.
