2 industrial park plants burglarized

Burglars hit two Forest Lake Industrial Park locations over the weekend and made off with a van and tools, according to Forest Lake Police Department reports.

Police here said the reports were made by Madsen Fixture and Millwork, 921 SW 15th St. and Royaline Industries, 794 SW 15th St.

In the Madsen Fixture report, police said someone gained entry to the plant through a window on a southeast garage door.

The business reported the theft of a 2002 white Dodge Caravan valued at $17,498. The van was parked inside the plant, police said. The crime was reported Monday and took place over the weekend.

At Royaline Industries, a burglary was reported by Mark J. Haus who leases space in the building. He reported to police the loss of three tools boxes containing machinist tools.

One box was valued at $6000 while the other two had combined value of $3000. Police estimated the total loss, including the boxes, at near $10,000.

There was no sign of forced entry but the loss was reported as a burglary.

Other police news

In other police news, officers are advising city residents to be alert for door-to-door sales pitches that may not be licensed by the city.

Police are investigating reports last week from the southwest area where a door-to-door pitch was represented as a Qwest program. Police said Qwest had not authorized any such sales promotions in Forest Lake.

When such door-to-door marketing attempts are made, police say residents should not let the sellers inside and should request to see the sellerís peddlerís license from the city.

Under city ordinance, all such sales efforts require a license from the city. Sellers will have a license they can show home owners to verify that the appropriate license has been obtained.

Anyone with information about last weekís alleged Qwest sales scheme is asked to call Kirby Siewert, investigator, at 651-464-5877.
