Consistency is finding its way onto the Forest Lake girls golf team and it paid off on Monday.

Forest Lake finished second at its own invitational on Monday at Forest Hills and the Rangers have their newest teammate ñÝconsistency ñÝto thank.

The Rangers got three 95-or-lower scores and a consistent round (44-43) from its top golfer to finish with a score of 375 to take second place. Woodbury was the team champion with a 367.

Krista Swanson, who somewhat struggled at the beginning of the season, led the Rangers with an 87, which was good for fourth place.

Forest Lake coach Bill Loushine said not only is Swanson starting to show consistency in her game, but so are the Rangers as a team.

ìI was very pleased with the team final score and more importantly, having three players playing as well as they did,î Loushine said. ìWe still need someone to step into that last scoring position.î

After Swansonís 87, Forest Lake was led by Christie Brinkís 92 and Sarah Bergerís 95. Trisha Thomsenís 101 was the Rangersí fourth score.

Laura Henry, Krista Skoglund and Christina Willcoxen also competed for the Rangers.

Brink finished tied for eighth while Berger tied for 12th in the 48-player field.

Erica McKenzie of Hastings and Jenny Heinz of Mounds View each shot an invitational-best 82.
After Woodbury and Forest Lake in the team standings came Stillwater (376), White Bear Lake (383), Mounds View (389), Hastings (390), Centennial (416) and Cambridge-Isanti (490).

The invitational had a field of only eight teams this year as opposed to the regular 16 because Osseo scheduled a Northwest Suburban Conference meet on the same day, which pulled several teams away from the Forest Lake Invitational.

On Wednesday, May 1, Swanson shot a team-best 45 at Stillwaterís Suburban East Conference meet to place fourth individually. Brink and Berger each shot a 48 for the Rangers while Thomsen added a 54 and Willcoxen shot a 58.
