Posted: 11/13/02 Mayorís recount is Thursday in FLA tight margin in the Forest Lake mayorís race has resulted in a request for a recount which will take place today (Thursday) at City Hall. Dick Tschida came up just 21 votes short of ousting incumbent Mayor Ray Daninger in the November 5 election. Tschida, who received 2616 votes compared to Daningerís 2637 votes, requested the recount Nov. 6. City Clerk Chantal Doriott said counting will be done by city staff with a quorum of council members present. Open to the public, the count is expected to begin at 9 a.m. The council will meet at the close of the recount to canvass the results. This election had high voter turn-out, reported City Administrator Chip Robinson. On average, there was about 75 percent turn-out of registered voters in the city. Robinson added turn-out was a record state wide for a non-presidential election. |
