Posted: 11/13/02 2 divers, 1 swimmer advance to stateTwo divers and one swimmer from the Forest Lake High School Ranger swimming and diving team have qualified for the Class AA State Meet. The three athletes were part of a Ranger contingent that garnered 187 points to finish sixth in the Section 7AA meet in Elk River last week. Duluth East won the team title with 438 points. Centennial was second with 399‡. The season will continue at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center today (Thursday) through Saturday. Diving prelims are at 6 tonight. Moving on to state are divers Sarah Chaussee and Bri Hubbard who finished second and third, respectively, and eighth grader Amanda Nelson, a second-place finisher in the 100 meter freestyle. Chaussee, a senior, compiled a score of 333.30 in the one-meter diving competition. Melissa Maher of Centennial won the event with a score of 336.85. Hubbard, a sophomore, nailed down her third-place finish with a score of 328.95. Nelson earned her state meet bid with a second place time of :57.15 in the 100 meter freestyle competition. Nikke Reed of Duluth East won the event with a score of :53.82.
