Posted: 11/5/02 Smith leads in campaign spendingAccording to records on file with the city of Forest Lake, mayor candidate Terry Smith is the leading spender in the campaign for local offices. City records show Smith with total campaign spending of $4423.78 as of Oct. 25. Forest Lakeís other two candidates for mayor, Ray Daninger and Dick Tschida had spent $2450 and $2038, respectively. Daningerís last report was dated Nov. 1; Tschidaís last report was Oct. 25. Council candidate Rick Ashbach reported spending of $1095 as of Oct. 25 while candidate Judy Bull reported campaign spending of $1136 as of Oct. 21. Forest Lake Action Group, a local political action committee that has supported Tschida, Susan Young and Robert Kennedy in newspaper advertisements, reported total spending of $1229.97. Other than Ashbach and Bull, no other candidates report spending of $750 or more in their council campaigns. All expenditures of $750 or more must be reported. |
