Posted: 11/6/02 Haag reelected mayor in WyomingVern Haag was reelected mayor of the city of Wyoming on Tuesday, beating back a challenge by Joe Zerwas. But incumbent Councilman Paul Raduenz was not as fortunate at the polls. While Haag was scoring a win at the ballot box, Raduenz was handed a defeat. He finished third in a four-candidate field that produced winners for two four-year council terms. Haag turned back Zerwas 833 to 691 to claim his second two-year stint as mayor. In the city council race, Martin English, head of the cityís EDA, was the top vote collector at 702 votes to win a four-year term. Finishing second in the race was Ted Phillips who picked up 665 votes to secure his four-year term on council. Raduenz was third and out of the running with 563 votes. A wild card in the race was Jason Hopkins. Hopkins filed for the Nov. 5 but had indicated he was no longer a candidate. His name remained on the ballot, however, and Hopkins received 393 votes on Tuesday. Hugo election Residents of the city of Hugo also went to the polls on Tuesday to elect a mayor and two members of the city council Incumbent Mayor Fran Miron, running unopposed, was reelected to another two-year term with 3118 votes. In the Ward One council race, Becky Petryk, running unopposed, collected a new term in office with 1134 votes. Also unopposed on Tuesday in Ward Three was Charles Haas.
