Championship reign ends for FL girls

Forest Lakeís two-year reign as champions of the Bluejacket Invitational came to an end Friday in Cambridge.

After winning the team title each of the last two years, the Forest Lake girls team tied for third.
Roseville won the team title at the eight-team meet with a score of 40. Elk River followed with an 84 and the Rangers and Osseo tied with 90.

Kristen Howe led Forest Lake with a fourth-place finish in a time of 16:08. Laura Edlund placed eighth in 16:27.

Shawna McNamara placed 23rd (17:57) for the Rangers and was followed by Sarah Wright in 31st (18:38), Emily Buck in 32nd (18:50), Kristi Buerkle in 33rd (18:51) and Rachel Charpentier in 41st (19:21).

Annie Dehmlow led Forest Lakeís junior varsity with a 24th-place finish in 19:49.

In the boys race, Forest lake finished fifth out of 10 teams. Chad Bjorklund led the Rangers by placing 18th in 18:20.

Peter Bailey placed 24th for Forest Lake in 18:46 and John Fahnhorst was 25th in 18:47. Ted Dehmlow placed 32nd in 19:08 and was followed by Chris Clark in 39th (19:33), Nate Berg in 41st (19:34) and Sean Hogan in 51st (20:01).

Lorin Skoglund placed second in the junior varsity race while Ben Fick was third and Jordan Koch was eighth to help Forest Lake place second in the JV team standings. Zach Clark finished fourth in the junior high portion of the meet.
