Ranger soccer teams fall to Mounds View

Mounds View defeated both the Forest Lake boys and girls soccer teams Monday night.

In the boys game, Mounds View broke a 1-1 tie with a pair of goals early in the second half on its way to a 3-1 victory over the Rangers at Mustang Stadium.

Pat Harnett scored to tie the game for Forest Lake in the first half, but the Mustangs took advantage of a pair of Forest Lake breakdowns in the second half to score the victory.

ìWe had some good opportunities tonight,î Forest Lake coach Randall Appleton said. ìWe played a little better in the first half than the second. We just had two key mistakes that really hurt us.î

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Park (Cottage Grove) used a penalty kick with five minutes left in the game to beat Forest Lake 1-0. Forest Lakeís boys are 1-3-1 on the season.

In the girls game Monday night, Mounds View scored all of its goals in the first half in taking a 3-0 victory over the Rangers. Forest Lake dropped to 0-4 with the loss. On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Park (Cottage Grove) defeated the Rangers 1-0.
