Forest Lake had its four-match winning streak snapped at the Keller Klassic then found itself in a pickle against White Bear Lake.

Forest Lake went 2-2 at the Keller Klassic on Saturday at Coon Rapids and then suffered a four-game loss at White Bear Lake on Monday.

The Rangers had started the volleyball season with four straight wins and now stands at 5-3.
Despite the loss at White Bear Lake, Forest Lake coach Sherri Alm said she thinks the Rangers still have what it takes to win the Suburban East Conference.

ìWeíre disappointed in the loss. At the same time, we know we have a ways to go and that weíll see them again and we look forward to that,î Alm said. ìBut, we canít let another game slip away anywhere else in the conference and thatís the bottom line.î

After dropping the first game 15-7 against White Bear Lake, Forest Lake bounced back to win the second game 15-10. The Bears, however, refused to let the Rangers push the match to five games as White Bear Lake won the final two games 15-8, 15-13.

Cortney Marr was 21 of 21 serving for the Rangers in the match while Katie Thompson had a team-high 19 kills. Molly Thompson added 11 kills and Lindsey Anderson had 10 with a .474 kill efficiency.

Molly Thompson added 19 digs and Anderson had 18. Alm also said she got impressive play out of Tara Kent and Casey Liptak in the match.

At the Keller Klassic, the Rangers opened with a 15-0, 15-0 win over Totino-Grace before falling 15-3, 15-12 to Orono. Forest Lake then lost 15-11, 11-15, 15-9 to Tartan before finishing the tournament with a 13-15, 15-5, 15-6 win over Hill-Murray.

Katie Thompson had a team-high 36 kills in the tournament for the Rangers while Mary Sobiech added 28 and Molly Thompson had 25.

Marr was 47 of 47 serving with 37 points while Jamie Falck was 44 of 45 with 25 points and nine aces. Sobiech finished the match with 26 service points, including 10 aces and Angie Klosner was 16 of 16 serving.

Falck had a team-high 31 digs and Marr finished with 30. Alison McCurdy finished the tournament with 90 assists.

Alm said she also got good play off the bench from Kristina Bushman, Lisa Chmielewski and Klosner in the tourney.

ìWeíve had people jump in and play roles,î Alm said. ìThe kids on the bench have been ready to come in. Hopefully, theyíll stay positive and when they get their chance theyíll be ready to go.î
Forest Lakeís junior varsity won their portion of the Keller Klassic, beating White Bear Lake in two games in the championship.

ìThey have really improved a lot,î Alm said of Sarah Nelsonís squad. ìTheyíre doing a good job.î
