Wolf howl set Sept. 28

The Wildlife Science center will host its annual celebration of fall, Harvest Howl, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event is a family day with live animal demonstrations, pumpkin painting contests, kids games, a raffle and other activities.

Special features include interpretive history of Minnesota from Voyager Jacques Deseve, falconer/environmental educator Chris Cold, Heart of the Earthís Native American Dancers, Remarkable Reptiles! presentation and WSC staff wolf presentation.

Day-long features include the Minnesota Trappers Association, Ames Farm (apples, honey and beekeeping demonstrations), St. Francis Animal Rescue, photographer/author Stan Tekiela, jeweler Dianne Edinger, and Blimpies subs.

Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for children 4-17-years-old. There is no charge for children 3-years-old and younger. All proceeds benefit WSC.

WSC, a non-profit corporation, is home to more than 30 volves, black bears, gray foxes, a bobcat, six species of raptors and a turkey vulture.

Event sponsors include Kodiak Coffee, Home Depot, Grand Casino-Hinckley, AARCEE Rental and Sales, Ames Farm and Blimpies.

WSC is located inside the Carlos Avery Wildlife Refuge, 6.5 miles west of Forest Lake on Anoka County Road 18.
