Posted: 4/16/03 Win over North Branch lifts tennis to 3-1Berk Brown Forest Lake got a clean sweep from its doubles teams to take a 5-2 win over North Branch on Monday. It was the third win in four matches so far this season for the Rangers. On Friday, Forest Lake took a 4-3 win over Coon Rapids and on Wednesday, April 9, Blaine edged the Rangers 4-3. Forest Lake started the season with a 5-2 win over Chisago Lakes on Tuesday, April 8. Getting off to a 3-1 start was about as good of a beginning as Forest Lake coach Greg Patchin said he could have hoped for. ìIn many ways, we gave one away against Blaine and stole one from Coon Rapids,î he said. Through four matches, Adam Ramsey is the only Ranger yet to taste defeat. He has won all four of his matches on No. 3 doubles, teaming with both Brian Folkman and Jessup Schiks. In the win over North Branch, Alec Framke took a 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 3 singles while Max Conrad won his match at No. 4 singles by a 6-4, 6-1 margin. In doubles play, Forest Lakeís No. 1 team of Nick Frantzen and Tyler Gage won 6-2, 6-3 while the Rangersí No. 2 team of Tyler Anderson and Jeff Randall won 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3 doubles, Forest Lakeís Ramsey and Folkman won 6-1, 6-1. In the win over Coon Rapids, Luke Odegaard scored an impressive 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles for the Rangers while Andy Grauel took a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles and Framke scored a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles. Ramsey and Schiks added a 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. In the loss to Blaine, Forest Lake got all its wins in doubles action. Conrad and Anderson teamed for a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 while Frantzen and Grauel won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2. The No. 3 team of Folkman and Ramsey won 6-2, 6-4. In the season-opening win over Chisago Lakes, Framke won 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 at No. 2 singles, Gage won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Randall won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. In doubles play, Forest Lakeís No. 2 team of Frantzen and Grauel won 6-0, 6-4 and the No. 3 team of Folkman and Ramsey won 6-1, 6-7 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4). |
