Posted: 4/16/03 Audition set for Masquersí playMasquerís Theatre Company is preparing for its summer season. The first show of the season, ìSeven Brides for Seven Brothersî a musical adaptation of the popular MGM movie features with a large cast of about 30 talented men and women. Auditions to fill those roles are scheduled for 7-10 p.m. April 21 and 22 with call backs April 24 in the Forest Lake High School cafeteria. Those auditioning (16 and older) should come with a song prepared and wear comfortable clothing for dance. ìWe really need guys to try out,î said Deborah Wiersma, Masquerís president. ìItís a great way to meet women.î Adapted by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay, the play centers around Millie, a young bride living in the 1850s Oregon wilderness. Millieís plans to marry off her uncivilized brothers-in-law is foiled when the boys kidnap women to be their brides. The show will be directed by Masquerís newcomer Mike Nazzal, a frequent player/director with Lyric Arts in Anoka and a wealth of experience at various theaters including Lakeshore Players, Playhouse 15 and others. ìSeven Brides for Seven Brothersî will be presented the last two weekends in June.
