In the mind of his teammates, however, Keto stood tall this season. Keto was presented with the Ranger Award at the Forest Lake boys basketball team banquet recently. The award is voted on by the players and is given to the most deserving member of the squad. Keto, Joey Ryan and Lance Overson ñÝall seniors ñ were each named to the All Suburban East Conference team this season and Ryan was named to the Academic All State team. As a team, the Rangers were the Section 6AAAA Academic champions and head coach Chuck Gunderson was named the 6AAAA Coach of the Year. In other boys basketball news from this year, Ryan finished his career with 1,052 points, becoming only the second Ranger to reach the 1,000-point plateau. His total ranks second in school history behind Todd Poepardís 1,230. Ryan also set a school record this year with a free throw percentage of 84.8, which broke Karl Johnsonís 1984 mark of 82.9 percent. |
