Posted: 4/9/03 Task force action speeds Community Center rezoningSteps have been taken to speed the rezoning process for phase one of the Forest Lake Community Center project. At its meeting on Tuesday, April 1, the Forest Lake Area Community Center Task Force recommended the Forest Lake City Council approve the master plan for the 160-acre Community Center complex as the first step toward getting the land rezoned for recreational and civic use. The land is currently zoned for agricultural use. ěThis is the fastest way to get the land rezoned,î said Chip Robinson, city administrator, advising the task force of the process. ěTo be able to have the land ready for the Activity Center by this summer, we need to move the rezoning process along,î Robinson said. Once the cityís park board and planning commission approve the master plan and a conditional use permit, the matter will go to the city council as the final step in the approval process. Robinson estimated approval of the master plan and rezoning could be completed by early to mid-June. |
