School board filings open Aug. 26

The filing period for ISD 831 Board of Education fall election is just 12 days away. Tuesday, Aug. 26 is the first day of the filing period for this yearís Nov. 4 school board election. The filing period runs through Tuesday, Sept. 9. Five seats will be up for election this fall.

The seats currently held by Bill Bresin, Joe Grafft, Karen Morehead and Susan Novak will be on the ballot for four-year terms. The seat now held by Robert Rapheal will also be up for election to fill the remaining two years of the term won by Rebecca Otto in 2001. She resigned after being elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives and Rapheal was appointed. In filing, candidates must declare if they are running for one of the four regular seats or for the two years remaining in the seat now held by Rapheal. Affidavits of candidacy will be filed at the District Office Building, 6100 N. 210th St.
