Posted: 8/27/03 WBL man held for violating probationA White Bear Lake man is back in custody after he was stopped by Forest Lake police in the early morning hours Monday. City officers on patrol on TH-97 at Harrow Avenue at 3:39 a.m. observed a pickup swerving over the center line and hauling a tire that was unsecured. A traffic stop led to more. Chief of Police David Schwartz said Adam Kolodziej, 20, was taken into custody on a felony outstanding warrant for probation violation in Ramsey County. He was also booked in the county jail in Stillwater on probable cause of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, the chief said. Schwartz said Kolodziej was slated to be transferred to Ramsey County authorities. In other police news, officers here are investigating a series of vandalism reports and crimes involving city businesses. Thanks to a police action in Mora, Schwartz said a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup stolen from Forest Lake Chrysler Plymouth, 331 SW 19th St., has been recovered. The Kanabec County Sheriffís called police in Forest Lake on Aug. 20 to report they had recovered the truck and several other stolen vehicles. The truck has value of $32,000. A downtown business was the victim of vandalism sometime overnight on Aug. 21. Carterís Jewelry & Gifts, 85 N. Lake St., reported damage to a front window that was likely caused by a small caliber handgun or a pellet gun, police said. Damage to the window was estimated at just under $600. More vandalism More vandalism reports are also being investigated. On Aug. 24, a Harris woman reported the rear window to her Dodge Durango was broken out by what appeared to be a sling shot. The vehicle was in the parking lot behind Lake Area Bank when the vandalism was discovered at 1 a.m. On Aug. 22, a home owner in the 7100 block of N. 190th St. reported a post light had been shot out with a pellet gun and the house was also hit with a pellet. The incident was reported at 10:45 p.m. A slow moving car had been seen in the area prior to the incident, police said. On Aug. 21, a car parked in the 20000 block of Enfield Ave. N. was vandalized when its windshield and back window were both smashed out. A baseball bat or some similar device was used to break the windows, police said. Police also received two reports last week of mail boxes being damaged by traffic control cones that had been thrown at the mail boxes, police said. Kids on church roof Five juvenile boys from Forest Lake, all 14, are in trouble after they were caught on the roof at St. Peterís Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, on Aug. 22. A resident living near the church called police at 2:17 a.m. to report the incident. The five boys were apprehended and taken to the Forest Lake Police Department where they were later released to their parents. They will be charged with trespassing and violation of the cityís curfew ordinance, Schwartz said. |
