North Branch school backs proposed library plan
Plans for construction of three county-owned libraries in Chisago County gained the backing of the North Branch Area School Board on Aug. 14. The board of ISD 138 passed a resolution supporting Chisago Countyís Community Library Building Initiative. The proposal, slated to go before the county board for discussion on Sept. 3, could result in new libraries being built in Wyoming, North Branch and the Chisago Lakes areas. Ben Montzka, Wyoming area county commissioners, hailed the endorsement from school officials in North Branch. ìPublic libraries can be an important part of our childrenís intellectual growth and educational development,î Montzka said. The North Branch school board resolution supports the county initiative ìwhich promotes and recognizes the importance of reading and the access to such educational and artistic materials.î
