CR-22 crash claims life of motorcyclist

The Chisago County Sheriffís Department received a phone call on Aug. 4 at 7:10 p.m. that a motorcycle and a body had been found.

The body has been identified as 48-year-old John Sampsel of Chisago City.

The body and motorcycle were discovered in a weeded area just off Wyoming Trail (CR-22) in Wyoming Township, approximately one mile east of the city of Wyoming.

It has been determined that the motorcycle had been traveling east on Wyoming Trail where it entered a curve in the road. The motorcycle left the road, struck a road sign, and entered the wooded area on the south of the road where it came to a rest. It is believed that the accident occurred the previous night or possibly in the early morning.
