Hallberg earns Eagle Scout rank
Christopher Hallberg of Wauwatosa, WI recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. The grandson of Warren and Shirley Hallberg, Forest Lake, was recognized at a special Court of Honor Sunday, Nov. 30.Warren Hallberg, a past Boy Scout leader in Forest Lake presented his grandson with the award. Eagle Scout Tom Hallberg, Christopherís uncle, also participated in the ceremony by presenting his nephew the Eagle Scout Challenge. To earn this award, Hallberg organized and led a group of volunteers in planning, constructing and installation of six large wooden benches around a campsite fire ring in the Hickory Woods Group Campsite in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. He planned the project, presented the plan for approval by trails coordinator of the forest, sought and received donations of all lumber from area businesses and directed the volunteer workers in completing the project. Hallberg recruited more than 30 volunteers who put in more than 230 hours of service work over two days, measuring and cutting lumber, bench building, digging foundation holes for bench supports and final grading of the area. The 16-year-old is a junior at Marquette University High School, Milwaukee, WI. His is the 114th Eagle Scout award earned in Boy Scout Troop 21. In addition to the Eagle Scout award, Hallberg has earned several Scouting awards including 100 Nights Camping, 2001 National Jamboree, Arrow of Light, Order of the Arrow-Brotherhood Member, Paul Bunyan Woodsman, Polar Bear Award (3 times), Sub zero award, Powderhorn Leadership Bolo, Service to America Award (2 times), 30 Merit Badges, five years active in Cub Scouts and six years active in Boy Scouts.
