Sports EditorThe nordic ski team is not like other teams at the Forest Lake High School. Instead of prcticing every day, the practice three times a week and travel 45 minutes to get to their practice site.
Alpine ski coach Jay Stadler is expecting the girls team to do exceptionaly well this season. The team has not graduated a skier in three years so they are well experianced. The girls team is captained by Rachell Kissner, Katy Hallberg.
ìI am expecting some pretty goood things from the girls team because of the expericance,î Stadler said. ìThey all know what it takes to put a meet together.î
The boys team on the other hand is in a bit of a rebuilding stage. Captains Justin Knowlton, and Matt Keller will lead the team, but Knowlton is the only member of the boys team that has any sectional experiance.
Stadler sees Suburban East Conference teams Mounds View, Stillwater, and White Bear Lake as teams that will give the Rangers some good competition. The Rangers will have to make the most of their races against SEC teams because they only ski three days a week and most days they race, leaving little time for practice.
The Rangers first race is today against Mounds View at Wild Mountin. Races begin at 4:30 p.m.
