Sports EditorForest Lake nordic ski coach Deno Johnson couldnít ask for a better team this year. On the girls side, top skiers Laura Edlund and Sarah Wright, and on the boys side he has Lorin Skoglund and Ben Fick returning.
Johnson is expecting good things from both the boys and girls. Last years girls team finished second in the section, and the boys finished fourth.
Boys senior captain Lorin Skoglund should have a memorable season Johnson said. Skoglund trained four hours a day during the hot summer months. Skoglund will be followed closely by sophomore skier Ben Fick who is turning into a strong skier.
ìIím pretty confident that weíll have a solid squad there this year,î Johnson said.
Besides Edlund and Wright for the girls, Johnson sees Nikki Duff and Becky Alexander as two skiers that will make a jump and help the Rangers earn points.
ìWeíve got a couple of new kids that I am excited about too,î Johnson said. ìJamison Hull is a very talented athlete from the soccer team, then there is Sean Wright, Saraís young brother, and, Vanessa Vandeen for the girls.î
