Schwartz will be Fourth of July parade grand marshal in FL
David Schwartz will retire as Forest Lakeís police chief and director of public safety at the end of the year, but his official duties in Forest Lake are not yet over. American Legion Post 225 announced Friday night that Schwartz will be its parade grand marshal on Saturday, July 3, 2004 during the annual Independence Day celebration. He is retiring on Dec. 31 after serving 34 years on the police department here, including 24 years as police chief. He is the fourth highest chief in the state in terms of seniority. Post 225 also announced this week that Art Anderson, Forest Lake, a recent Bronze Star recipient for his service during World War II, will be parade honorary grand marshal. Parade secretary Patti Black said Monday she is working on the parade lineup for next summer and is close to securing the Irondale High School marching band for the 2004 parade.
