A series of burglaries, including three at city businesses, are under investigation this week, Chief of Police David Schwartz said.On Nov. 28, a forced-entry burglary was reported at Friend Mechanical and Dresel Trucking, both housed at 21490 Forest Blvd. N. Police said the burglary likely took place on Thanksgiving Day.
From the offices of the two businesses, the burglars made off with a quantity of cash and receipts, building supplies and tools.
Upperdeck, 55 S. Lake St., reported a burglary on Friday, Nov. 28. Police said the burglary took place between 7:30-9:10 a.m. as the bar and restaurant was preparing to open for the day.
A burglar alarm system in the bar had been cut, police said. Police said the burglars forced their way into the bar managerís office where they took a large quantity of cash but were not successful in removing the office safe.
Schwartz said the three business burglaries remain under investigation.
The residential burglary was a daytime crime on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
A homeowner in the 6600 block of N. 184th St. returned from a day of work at 5:17 p.m. and found the homeís TV in the front yard.
As a result of the forced-entry burglary, the homeowner lost firearms, a jar containing change and other household items, police said.

In other crimes, police are:
ïInvestigating the theft of a furnace valued at $2000 that was taken from a townhome under construction at 6381 N. 207th St. in the Sterling Oaks development over the Thanksgiving break and reported to police on Dec. 1.
ïInvestigating spray-paint vandalism at Southwest Junior High School, 943 SW 9th Ave. discovered by officers on patrol at 1 a.m. on Dec. 1.
ïRecovered a stolen moving truck in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 200 SW 12th St. on Dec. 1. The truck was listed as stolen by the Liberty Township Police Department, Youngstown, IN, and had been in the Wal-Mart lot for a day or two, police in Forest Lake said.
