Posted: 2/12/03 Moen lone Ranger to reach state in alpineBerk Brown Ryan Moen will make his second straight trip to the alpine state meet while a teammate missed making the trip by less than a second. Moen placed seventh individually at the Section 7 meet at Biwabik last week to qualify for this weekís state meet. His time for two combined races was 1:13:42. Teammate Jason Higgins narrowly missed a top-10 finish and trip to state. He finished 12th in 1:15.44. The 10th-place finisher had a time of 1:14.61. As a team, the Forest Lake boys placed fifth out of 16 teams with a score of 244. Duluth East (307) and Chisago Lakes (299) finished first and second, respectively. Chad Bjorklund had the third-best performance for the Rangers, finishing 32nd in 1:23.09. Chris Muske was 50th in 1:31.08 while Mark Grundtner was 81st in 2:01.36. In the girls race, the Rangers finished fifth as a team with a score of 172. Duluth East (274) and Chisago Lakes (246) finished first and second, respectively. Junior Katy Hallberg was 39th for the Rangers in 1:33.47 while seventh-grader Carly Bass was 52nd in 1:39.98 and sophomore Kelly Haglund was 75th in 2:31.30. |
