Talk about leaving town with a bang. Just after the Forest Lake girls basketball team took a 47-30 victory over Park on Tuesday, Feb. 11, in Cottage Grove, an explosive went off in the school.

While no one associated with the basketball game was injured, the Rangers did put a hurting on the Wolfpack with its defensive intensity.

ìFor the last two games, weíve played great defense,î Forest Lake coach Jack Bender said. ìWeíve gotten back to really getting after it.

ìWeíve gotten tremendous defensive effort.î

Forest Lake, 14-8 and 7-5 in the Suburban East Conference, outscored the Wolfpack 23-10 in the second and third quarters combined as the Rangers were able to build their lead well over 20 points during the game.

Lindsey Anderson led the Rangers with 19 points while Mary Sobiech added 13 and Renee Frericks had six.

Besides the defensive intensity, Bender also said he was pleased his team was able to get everyone playing time against the Wolfpack. Something which can be hard to do in the competitive SEC.

ìThat was really nice to see,î Bender said of everyone getting playing time. ìYou just donít get a chance to do that much.î

Forest Lake followed the win over Park with a 39-34 win over Roseville on Friday.

Sobiech had 12 points in the game for the Rangers while Anderson added 11 and Frericks had nine.
