Rangers fall in OT at Grand Rapids

Home ice proved to be just fine for Grand Rapids on Tuesday night. Forest Lake's trip north for the first round of the Section 7AA ended with an overtime, 3-2 loss to Grand Rapids.

Nick Hiipakka goal at 5:17 of the first overtime won it for the Indians. Forest Lake had taken a 2-1 lead with a pair of second period goals by Matt Stendahl and Joe Lindeberg. But the Indians tied it with a powerplay goal by Alex Goligoski at 1:13 of the third period, forcing the overtime.

Forest Lake netminder Brett Sawyer stopped 43 Grand Rapids shots in a losing effort. The Rangers, 15-9-1 on the season, came into the game as the tournament's fifth seed. Grand Rapids, the No. 4 seed, was 13-10-2 going into the sectional tournament
