White Bear skates past Rangers 4-0

For the first time in more than a month, the Forest Lake boys hockey team was unable to get a victory over the course of two games.

Forest Lake (9-5-1) tied Mounds View 5-5 on Thursday, Jan. 9, before dropping a 4-0 decision to White Bear Lake on Saturday. Both games were against Suburban East Conference opponents.

In the tie against Mounds View, the Mustangs rallied from a two-goal deficit in the final period and forced overtime with a game-tying goal with just :29 remaining.

Forest Lake goalie stopped 54 Mounds View shots in the game ñÝincluding 10 in overtime ñ as the Mustangs outshot the Rangers 59-33 in the contest.

Matt Stendahl and Cory Minke each had two goals for the Rangers while Mitch Hanson had the other.

In the loss to White Bear Lake, the Bears outshot the Rangers 27-12. White Bear Lake scored twice in the first period and once in the second and third.

There were 34 penalty minutes in the game, including a total of 18 for roughing.
