Fishing Contest likely won't take place again

It looks as though, for the second straight year, there will be no Golden Rainbow Fishing Contest in Forest Lake.

The Hopkins Jaycees, which organize the event, have reportedly told the Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce that they have canceled the event, planned for Saturday, Feb. 1. There is still some areas of open ice on the lake. The event was cancelled last year as well due to a lack of suitable ice depth.

The Hopkins Jaycees, however, have said they may try and schedule the contest for a later date. More information will be available next week.
