Posted: 1/22/03 Ranger recapNordic ski The boys team, which finished fourth in the meet, was led by Lorin Skoglund, followed by Ben Fick, Peter Bailey, Ted Steiner and Jordan Koch, who all scored for the Rangers. In the girls classical race, Laura Edlund and Sarah Wright finished 1-2, respectively to help lead the Rangers to beat-out Stillwater and Roseville in a highly-competitive meet. Also recently, some of Forest Lakeís top Nordic skiers competed in Grand Rapids at a Junior National Qualifying race. Members of the team which have already qualified for Junior Nations ñÝwhich will take place in March in Alaska ñ are Wright, Edlund, Anderson and Fick. Wrestling Eric Morris won his match at 103 pounds by the score of 5-2 while Clayton Harrison won a 10-0 decision at 119. At 125, Jordan Kolbow took an 18-6 victory for the Rangers while Jake Menk pinned his opponent at 130. At 135, John Denney recorded a pine just 45 seconds into the match while Brandon Girtz scored a 24-12 win over his opponent at 140. Josh Determan won his match 27-9 at 145 pounds while Jim House took a 24-15 win at 145. Jason Waidzulis won his match at 189 in double overtime for the Rangers while Alex Behling won 13-6 at 215 and Brandon Engel won by pin at 275. Gymnastics In the junior varsity portion of the meet, Stillwater downed the Rangers 126.2-117.6. Girls basketball Prior to the loss against the Ponies, the Forest Lake girls basketball team (10-5) got its winning streak to five games by taking a 51-40 victory over Roseville. Lindsey Anderson led the Rangers in their win over the Raiders by scoring 23 points. Renee Frericks added 13 for the Rangers while Mary Sobiech had eight. Jenny Kling added six points and Christie Brink had one. Girls hockey Tuesday is senior appreciation night and jersey night for the Forest Lake girls hockey team. Any FLHA player wearing their jersey gets into the game free. Also, Monday, Feb. 3 is the Red Line Club meeting at 7 p.m. at Forest Lake Senior High room 642. |
