Forest Lake closed to all motor vehicles

The Washington County Sheriff's Office late Wednesday ordered Forest Lake closed to all motor vehicles.

"Due to the poor ice conditions and open water on Forest Lake, the lake is officially closed to: automobiles, snowmobiles and ATVs until further notice," said Sgt. Jerry Cusick. Several automobiles, ATVs and a snowmobile have already broken through the ice this season and the ice conditions in many areas of the lake are not improving, he said.

Signs informing the public of the ban were being placed late Wednesday. Barricades are also being placed at all lake access points, the sheriff's office said.
