Posted: 7/16/03 Glenn Morcomb, VFW Post 4210 Commander diesStaff Writer VFW Post 4210 Commander Glenn Morcomb, Jr., passed away suddenly Saturday, July 5, 2003 of a heart attack. Morcomb leaves behind Jean, and parents Glenn Sr. and Barbara. He will also be missed by his daughter Rachel, and sons Glenn III, Joseph, and Andrew. Morcomb also leaves behind brothers Rick and Dale, and sister-in-law Sherry. ěHe was very proud of his family, he had many loved relatives and friends,î Morcombís wife Jean said. Morcomb was born in Winona, Minnesota, and grew up in Hastings. He meet his wife Jean at Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights. The two married on October 10, 1977. Morcomb was a Vietnam veteran, and recently retired from Pigs Eye Sewage Treatment where he worked for 30 years as a machine operator. He moved to Cannon Falls with his wife, then on to Forest Lake in 1986 when the couple had twins. Morcomb was very involved in the VFW where he was recently nominated commander of Forest Lake VFW Post 4210. ěHe was very proud to be elected commander,î Morcombís wife Jean said. ěHe was committed 100 percent to the VFW.î First Vice Commander Bill Olson will take over as VFW Commander. Apart from his family and the VFW, Morcomb enjoyed working in his yard. ěHe loved working in his yard and around the house,î Jean said as she explained that the two had about an acre of land at their home. A Mass was Friday, July 11 at Mattson Funeral Home with a lunch that followed at VFW Post 4210. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. |
