School board election process set

District residents interested in running for the ISD 831 Board of Education should mark Tuesday, Aug. 26 on their calendar. Thatís the first day of the filing period for this yearís Nov. school board election. The filing period is up Aug. 26 through Tuesday, Sept. 9. Five seats will be up for election this fall. The seats currently held by Bill Bresin, Joe Grafft, Karen Morehead and Susan Novak will be on the ballot for four-year terms. The seat now held by Robert Rapheal will also be up for election to fill the remaining two years of the term won by Rebecca Otto in 2001. She resigned after being elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives and Rapheal was appointed. In filing, candidates must declare if they are running for one of the four regular seats or for the two years remaining in the seat now held by Rapheal. Candidates will file affidavits of candidacy at the District Office Building, 6100 N. 210th St. The school board at its meeting July 7 adopted a resolution setting the filing dates for the school board election.
