ERA Muske float is Legion Home Town Pride winner

ERA Muske Co. Real Estate of Forest Lake was the big winner in the 79th annual American Legion Post 225 Independence Day parade last Friday.

The Forest Lake real estate company was named the winner of the ìHome Town Prideî winner in a special parade category encouraging local businesses and organizations to enter patriotic local floats in the parade. It was one of two awards won by the business.

More than 200 units took part in the Fourth of July parade that was led by grand marshal Don Skow, a two-time commander of Post 225 and 30-year volunteer with the American Legion.

David Schwartz, director of public safety and police chief, said the parade crowd was near 40,000 spectators, lower than in past years. Schwartz said the fireworks crowd on July 4th was also near the 40,000 total.
