Posted: 6/25/03 Contractor finds water is not freeA glass of water may be free at most restaurants, but not when it is served in quantities of 3500 gallons. A contractor working on the TH-97 remilling project learned that lesson in Forest Lake last week. According to police department records, PCI, the firm with the state contract for the highway work on TH-97, was removing water from a city hydrant on SE 15th Ave. without city approval. When police arrived, some 3500 gallons of water with value of $113 had been loaded. City police ticketed an employee of the company with misdemeanor theft for taking the water without city OK. The fine will be paid by the company, police said. Police are also investigating a burglary from a model home on Explorer Ave. in the Eagle Bluff housing development. Police said that sometime last weekend, a couch, chair, foot stool, pillows and art prints were stolen from a model home. Value of the property was set at near $1500. The home is owned by Lang Builders, Circle Pines, police said. A homeowner in the 500 block of SE 12th Ave. reported the theft of a fountain top valued at $450. The fountain top is a boy and girl with an umbrella, police said. The homeowner reported the loss on June 21 and has been the victim of previous incidents where items have been stolen from the lawn. US-8 crash A three-vehicle crash on US-8 last Saturday sent two people to area hospitals. The crash happened at 4:43 p.m. on US-8 at 250th St. in Wyoming Township. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Gerald E. Anderson, 35, Lindstrom, was westbound on US-8 and slowing to make a left turn to a nursery when his pickup truck was hit by a second westbound truck driven by Joy Lynn Linman, 38, Chisago City. The impact spun Andersonís vehicle into the eastbound lane where it was hit a second time by a eastbound truck driven by Andrew J. Carlson, 34, Lindstrom. The state patrol said Linman was taken by air ambulance to North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale with injuries that appeared to be serious. Anderson was treated and released for minor injuries at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center, Wyoming. The accident remains under investigation. |
