Posted: 6/25/03 House fire in Wyoming called suspiciousA house fire in Wyoming last week is being called suspicious as authorities continue to investigate the blaze. Wyoming firefighters were called to the Anton Wicklander home, 26496 Finley Ave., at 10:53 p.m., Wednesday, June 18. Fire Chief Dennis Berry said this week the fire is of a ěsuspicious nature.î An investigation into the cause of the fire is now being carried out by Wyoming Police Sgt. Scott Dexter and the state fire marshalís office. Dexter said authorities are awaiting lab reports from evidence produced during the investigation. Berry said the home, located on the corner of Finley and Wyoming Trail (CR-22), was a total loss. The blaze was centered in the deck, kitchen and garage area of the structure. Homeowner Wicklander, 50, was alone when the blaze broke out. He was taken to Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming and later transferred to Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Berry said. According to Dexter, Wicklander aggravated back and rib injuries while leaving the home. Berry said Wyoming firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes and cleared the scene by 3 a.m., Thursday, June 19. |
