Fladland property released from pact

Jackie and Dwayne Fladland, owners of the Forest Theater building in downtown Forest Lake, got their wish last week. The city of Forest Lakeís Economic Development Authority voted to release the property from a developerís agreement tied to plans for construction of a new restaurant. The buildingís location was included in the developerís agreement two years ago as an area where parking would be provided to serve the restaurant. The restaurant developers and the Fladlands were not successful in negotiating a purchase of the building. The restaurant project is now moving forward with a scaled-back plan that will not require as much parking as originally planned. The EDA decision on May 27 allows the Fladlands the freedom to develop their property.
