County plans public hearing for CR-14, 8 projects in Hugo

Washington County transportation officials will host an open house and conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, March 25, at Hugo City Hall to discuss the proposed reconstruction of county highways 14 and 8.

The open house will take place from 6-6:45 p.m., and the public hearing will begin at 7 p.m.

The proposed project will impact the cities of Lino Lakes in Anoka County, and Hugo in Washington County.

The open house will provide citizens with an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the project in an informal setting.

The Environmental Assessment and Environmental Assessment Worksheet, along with drawings and other pertinent information, will be available for public viewing.

The EA/EAW documents the purpose and need for the project along with the anticipated social, economic, and environmental impacts.

During the public hearing, county officials will conduct a formal presentation, including a brief overview of the findings associated with the EA/EAW. Public comment is encouraged during the hearing and will be recorded as part of the official public hearing record.

Both written and verbal comments will be accepted. Public comment will be considered when making future project-related decisions.

Project details

The proposed project includes reconstruction of the roadway as a four-lane divided section between I-35E and US- 61, and the construction of a separated pedestrian/bicycle path and traffic signals.

Three alignment alternatives are being considered in the city of Hugo.

The tentative schedules for right-of-way acquisition and construction will be discussed, and the relocation assistance program will be explained. Schedules are dependent upon federal approvals.
