Computer equipment theft from Central Learning Center is costly

The theft of computer equipment from the Central Learning Center in Forest Lake has resulted in a loss of just under $9000.

Officials of the ISD 831 school program reported the theft to Forest Lake Police on March 13.

Three lap top computers and two digital video cameras with total value of $8970 were stolen from the Central Learning Center, 200 SW 4th St., sometime between March 7-12, police said.

No arrests have been made and the theft remains under investigation.

In a second police report involving ISD 831, a district school bus was involved in a crash with a car on March 15.

Police said the collision took place at 2:33 p.m. on northbound SW 12th St. just prior to the W. Broadway Ave. signal.

According to police reports, the bus, driven by Grant E. Clark, 55, Lindstrom, and the car, driven by Francis S. Ciminski, 60, Marine on St. Croix, were in the two right-hand lanes of 12th St. when the vehicles hit side panel to side panel.

Police said 12 students were on the bus. No injuries were reported. The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Police here also were called to a second vehicle accident, this one at 4th Street and W. Broadway at 11:27 a.m. on Friday, March 14.

According to police reports, Eugene V. Allquist, 79, Forest Lake, was westbound on Broadway and turning south on 4th St. when his vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by James V. Wells, 59, Edina.

There were no serious injuries and the crash remains under investigation.
