Posted: 5/14/03 Columbus Elementary recognized by MESPA as School of ExcellenceColumbus Elementary was recently recognized as a MESPA (Minnesota Elementary School Principalís Association) School of Excellence. As a prelude to the evening program on May 8th, Columbus staff and student alumni performed musical selections in anticipation of the celebration. During the evening celebration, community leaders, district personnel, Columbus staff, family and student perspectives were presented to pose an all-inclusive snapshot of Columbus. P. Fred Storti, director of MESPA, awarded Neal Fox, principal at Columbus a plaque commemorating Columbus as a School of Excellence. Lawrence Carlson, principal of Columbus from 1975-1999 joined Mr. Fox in receiving the award. Only 100 schools since 1985 have been awarded this recognition. On Friday, May 9th, Columbus students celebrated with a program that highlighted the areas of excellence presented the evening before. Each Columbus student received a School of Excellence t-shirt and wrist band that they proudly wore that day. |
